Baotou company makes major achievement in geological exploration

The "Theoretical and Technological Innovation and Breakthrough in Exploration of the Bayan Obo Carbonate Rock Type Iron Rare Earth Niobium Deposit", completed by Baotou Steel Group Co, the Institute of Mineral Resources of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, was recently rated as a major geological exploration achievement in 2024.

Baotou Steel Group Co, the Institute of Mineral Resources, and the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences jointly established the Bayan Obo Scientific Research Base in 2019. The base ensures the supply of strategic mineral resources such as rare earth, iron, and fluorite, innovates the mineralization theory of the Baiyun Obo deposit, achieves breakthroughs in deep mineral exploration, and improves the comprehensive utilization efficiency of resources.

Since the base's establishment, the research team has achieved a series of outstanding results in mineralization theory, mineral exploration breakthroughs, resource evaluation, and scientific discoveries through innovative working mechanisms, interdisciplinary collaborative research, and multi-channel funding.
