Major projects in Baotou's Jiuyuan district get underway

Major projects in Jiuyuan district, Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, are progressing quickly in early autumn.

The Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefin Upgrade Demonstration Project of CHN Energy Baotou Coal Chemical Co has a total investment of 17.15 billion yuan ($2.40 billion), with plans to complete 5 billion yuan of investment in 2025.

It is expected to be completed by 2026, with an annual output value of 6 billion yuan, producing 2 million metric tons of coal-to-methanol and 750,000 tons of methanol-to-olefin while creating 1,000 jobs. Other major projects are also advancing rapidly, with the Haibo Sichuang project to begin operating soon.

Since the beginning of 2025, Jiuyuan has implemented 68 major projects with a total investment of 71.44 billion yuan, with seven projects already completed and operational, and 30 projects aiming to be completed and be operational this year.

Jiuyuan provides full-lifecycle services while actively promoting enterprise expansion and upgrades to further unleash industrial development potential. It has completed seven infrastructure projects and put into use five power supply line projects to support construction needs and enterprise production.
