The Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange in Inner Mongolia autonomous region showcased an increase in both the variety and volume of transactions in 2025, extending from rare earth oxides to new materials.

Duan Xu, director of the market development department, stated that the exchange now offers 89 different types of products, including basic raw materials, rare earth metals, auxiliary materials, waste, processing services, and even logistics services.

The Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange, as a major trading platform for rare earth products, connects with nationwide rare earth production enterprises, tapping into potential customer resources.

In 2025, rare earth companies from Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces joined the exchange's online trading platform and introduced a competitive bidding procurement model for raw and auxiliary materials, along with customized services.

In the first half of 2025, the exchange organized over 70 competitive bidding procurement orders, attracting more than 180 enterprises, with transaction amounts exceeding 50 million yuan ($7 million) and a success rate of 93 percent.

Wang Li, manager of the trading services department, pointed out that the competitive bidding procurement model had helped companies reduce procurement costs by nearly 7.6 million yuan, or 5 percent, meeting the diverse needs of industrial clients, enhancing customer loyalty and promoting cooperation.
