Baotou airport sees surge in passenger flow

Updated: 2025-10-10

During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, Baotou Donghe International Airport operated a total of 382 flights, transported 45,000 passengers, and saw cargo and mail throughput of 95.4 metric tons.

Since a week before the holiday, the airport's daily passenger throughput has remained above 5,500 due to a combination of business and off-peak travel. On Oct 2, the daily passenger volume exceeded 6,290. Several popular flights were over 85 percent full, while tourism cities such as Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hangzhou proved to be the most popular destinations.

In response to the holiday travel boom, the airport has implemented measures such as increased check-in counters and security checkpoints to reduce passenger waiting time. Staff members increased inspection efforts to provide timely assistance and guidance to special groups and ensure a smooth travel experience.

During the holidays, the airport created a strong festive atmosphere for passengers through immersive holiday scenes and colorful interactive experiences.
