Baotou sees thriving consumer market during holidays

During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays from Oct 1 to 8, Baotou's consumer market delivered impressive results, with 1,208 key monitored commercial circulation enterprises achieving a sales revenue of 647 million yuan ($90.74 million).

Among them, the sales revenue of 24 shopping malls and complexes reached 173 million yuan, and the number of customers entering the stores exceeded 3.56 million. The 625 monitored accommodation and catering enterprises had a turnover of 56 million yuan and a foot traffic of 446,700 people.

Focusing on the night economy, the city's major characteristic blocks extended the consumption chain through business integration, making night consumption the growth pole of holiday economy.

During the Inner Mongolia Football Super League, 850 key monitored commercial and trade circulation enterprises achieved a total sales revenue of 131 million yuan. Specifically, 24 key shopping malls and commercial complexes achieved revenue of 24.06 million yuan, with a cumulative customer flow of 704,000, showing a simultaneous increase in popularity and sales.

Meanwhile, 254 accommodation and catering enterprises also performed well, achieving a total turnover of 8.96 million yuan and a cumulative customer flow of 38,300 people. Stiff competition has played a significant role in boosting consumption.

To unleash consumption potential, the Baotou municipal bureau of commerce will take the traditional festivals of New Year's Day and Spring Festival as important opportunities to plan and deploy consumer promotion activities in advance. It will also focus on core consumer needs such as home appliance replacement, New Year's goods procurement, and cultural tourism, collaborate with key commercial enterprises and cultural and tourism institutions to launch customized discount packages and special services, further stimulating the vitality of the consumer market.
