The number of technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) registered in the Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone reached 409 in 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 65.6 percent, and the total now ranks among the highest in the city.

The manufacturing industry, driven by rare earth new materials, comprises 150 enterprises, accounting for 36.8 percent of the city's total. The information transmission, software and information technology services, and scientific research and technology services sectors have a total of 198 listed enterprises, forming a new industrial development pattern.

High-tech enterprises account for 14 percent of the total and possess over 800 valid Class I and Class II intellectual property rights. These technology-based SMEs have produced a number of scientific and technological achievements, making them the backbone of innovation in high-tech zones and a new engine for industrial transformation and upgrading.

Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone will continue to improve its tiered cultivation mechanism for technology enterprises and optimize the full-cycle innovation ecosystem, injecting new vitality into high-quality regional development.
