Hexigten develops ice and snow tourism

In recent days, Chifeng’s Hexigten Banner has developed a local winter tourism industry by holding an assortment of unique events and improving local entertainment facilities and services.

Hexigten Banner, located in northwestern Chifeng, has a population of over 250,000 and covers an area of 20,673 square kilometers. The banner has a national-level geopark called Hexigten Global Geopark, where features nearly 10 types of geological landforms, including potholes, granite, volcanic rocks, valleys and crater lakes.

In addition to the geological formations, the place is blessed with rolling grasslands, primeval forests, cliff paintings, border walls dating from the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234), and battleground relics of Ulan Butung (Wulanbutong).
