As the only inland port opened all year round in the Midwest Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Mandula Port plays an important role in the country’s Belt and Road Initiative, especially in trade with Mongolia and Russia.

The port handled more than 800,000 tons of goods in 2016, a year-on-year growth of 235 percent. Its import and export volume reached 264 million yuan ($ 39.76 million), an increase of 465 percent year-on-year.

The numbers of inbound and outbound passengers and vehicles were 87,000 and 32,000 respectively, rising 21 percent and 118 percent.

By the end of August, exported electricity reached 101,000 kW.

The achievement comes from the efforts put into facilities construction, services improvement and customs supervision, with a total investment of 3.51 billion yuan.

The port will continue to take advantage of its favorable location to promote economic and culture exchange between China and the world.
