North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently issued 428 million yuan ($64.22 million) in subsidies for people in need, according to information released by the Inner Mongolia Civil Affairs Department on April 16.

The subsidies will be used to cover urban and rural subsistence allowances and provide assistance and support to extremely poor people. They will also cover temporary assistance, assistance for vagrants and beggars and basic living security for orphans and unsupported children.

The civil affairs department requires financial and civil affairs bureaus at the league and municipal levels to promote the continuous development of relief work for people in need.

They are required to strictly carry out the accurate identification of support recipients, effectively improve the efficiency of fund use and ensure that subsidies from the central government and the autonomous region's government are promptly distributed.
