The Inner Mongolia autonomous region reported 27 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 13 asymptomatic cases on Sunday, the region's Health Commission said on Monday.

Ten cases were confirmed in Chifeng and 17 in Xilin Gol League. One asymptomatic person was found in Chifeng and the rest were in Xilin Gol League.

As of Sunday, 456 infections, including 216 confirmed and 240 asymptomatic cases were reported in Ereenhot, Xilin Gol League, officials said at a news conference.

On Sunday, the city reported 17 confirmed cases and 12 asymptomatic cases, according to Hou Yanmin, deputy director of the city's epidemic control and prevention headquarters.

The city achieved zero-COVID status at the community level for three consecutive days, from Friday to Sunday, she said.

All patients have been transported to designated makeshift hospitals for medical treatment and observation, she said, adding that 17,803 close contacts had been traced, and all have been put under controlled management.

The city started its 11th round of mass testing on Sunday morning. Testing was completed on Monday morning.

In the face of the still severe and complicated Covid-19 situation, Inner Mongolia has continued to improve the green channel for the allocation of treasury funds to ensure that special funds for epidemic prevention and control and resumption of work and production are allocated as soon as possible.

As of June 8, Inner Mongolia had allocated 2.06 billion yuan ($309.08 million) in funds related to epidemic prevention and control this year, and the funds are mainly flowing to residential communities, sub-district offices and local health, social security, education and other departments.

Meanwhile, a total of 553 million yuan in special funds for resumption of work and production have been allocated, focusing on supporting areas such as epidemic prevention material guarantees, infrastructure construction, agricultural and animal husbandry production, and transportation.
