During the upcoming National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region will roll out 118 major cultural and tourism activities across its 12 cities and leagues.

Running from late September through October, the series blends traditional culture with modern experiences, highlighting the unique charm of northern China.

Regionwide highlights

Hohhot will introduce a "5+7+N" framework to create a citywide "15-minute cultural tourism circle". Key programs include themed night shows at Saishang Old Street and the large-scale prairie performance Meeting at Aobao. A cultural tourism pass, priced at 100 yuan ($13.93), offers access to attractions and venues worth over 3,000 yuan.

Other regions will showcase distinctive resources: Hulunbuir will launch a self-driving route through forests and snowfields, Tongliao will host a city Naadam, while Alshaa's hero festival and golden autumn populus euphratica events will feature desert rallies and marathons.

Cultural fusion

Ordos will hold a "Warm City Intangible Heritage Carnival" with performances such as the Yang Family Drum Array and Miao reed-pipe dances. Bayannuur will host an intangible heritage week featuring Hetao paper-cutting and dough sculpture.

New tourism experiences

Hohhot will release eight themed travel routes and launch new landmarks combining nostalgia, technology, and nature. Wuhai will host desert concerts with bonfire dances, Ulaanqab will feature moon-worship rituals, and Alshaa will promote desert skydiving. Chifeng will integrate cycling and off-road races with scenic landscapes, enriching sports-tourism offerings.

These initiatives aim to create immersive holiday experiences, drive cultural tourism consumption, and showcase the vibrant spirit of Inner Mongolia.
