The prefecture-level city of Baotou – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – was awarded the title of "China Horse City" by the China Horse Industry Association on Sept 19.

It's expected that this will serve as a new starting point for Baotou. It will now aim to benchmark itself against internationally renowned equestrian cities and promote the wide-ranging development of its modern horse industry.

Efforts will be made to accelerate the establishment of a complete horse industry chain integrating product development, biomedicines and sports leisure in the city.

Additionally, Baotou will strive to build itself into a national core area, demonstration area and leading area for the development of the modern horse industry.

Emphasis will also be placed on promoting the integration of industries and creating a nationally influential horse-themed cultural tourism brand.
