An equestrian show jumping invitational competition kicked off at Baotou Olympic Park on Nov 11. The park is located in Baotou city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Equestrian show jumping is a highly entertaining and engaging equestrian sport that primarily tests the proficiency of the rider-horse duo and their ability to swiftly navigate through a set course of obstacles.

The competition attracted 59 rider-horse pairs from Beijing, Shanxi province, Inner Mongolia, and other regions.

Zou Ling, a 12-year-old participant from Beijing, expressed, "I started learning to ride horses when I was 10 years old. This time in Baotou, I am participating in the 80-centimeter-level show jumping, which is the most challenging level in this competition. Through horseback riding, I have gained qualities of courage and resilience. I love this sport."

Ms Wu, a resident watching the competition, shared her thoughts, "Since Baotou was designated as China's Horse City in September, there have been many equestrian-themed events, and we pay a lot of attention to them." "I believe it's something to be proud of when a city has its own distinctive features. The overall atmosphere of loving and riding horses in the city is getting better and better," she added.
