Updated: 2024-01-12

The Beijing Symphony Orchestra signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Baotou Art Theater on Jan 9.

The signing ceremony took place in the rehearsal hall of the Baotou Art Theater Symphony Orchestra. Both parties plan to further deepen and refine their cooperation, jointly create commissioned works, conduct collaborative performances, share musical artistic resources, and engage in talent exchanges and joint training.

To celebrate the signing, an original symphonic work "Mongolian Horse", a soprano solo, and a piece of Manhan drama were performed at the ceremony.

In addition, the young conductor Wang Guanren from the Beijing Symphony Orchestra once again collaborated with the Baotou Art Theater's Symphony Orchestra. Both had previously collaborated on the 26th Baotou New Year's Concert, which was held on Jan 1.

Founded in 1977, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra is one of China's most popular and internationally influential orchestras.

Meng Haidong, conductor of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, stated, "As Baotou is building itself into the 'North Music City', we hope that this signing will serve as an opportunity to strengthen musical exchanges and cooperation between Beijing and Baotou. We will jointly create representative musical events."

Li Jing, director of the Baotou Art Theater, expressed, "The signing of this agreement allows us to receive guidance from a nationally renowned orchestra, helping us to grow."
