The opening ceremony of a temple fair (miaohui) in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Feb 7 showcases Mongolian culture. Large temple fairs in China are held by folk temples for the worship of Chinese gods and immortals around the time of the Chinese New Year. Temple fairs feature traditional customs and folk culture, including local snacks, intangible cultural heritage and folk performances.
