Baotou to attract tourists from East China

Baotou held a tourism promotion event in Zibo, Shandong province on May 23, with the aim of attracting more visitors from the city in East China to the largest city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

In contrast to Zibo’s Qilu culture, Baotou represents China’s nomadic grassland culture.

Zhang Bo, an official from Zibo’s Tourism Development Committee, introduced the history and grassland culture of Baotou at the promotion event.

Ren Geming, a top official at Baotou’s Tourism Development Committee, extended his warm welcome to tourists from Zibo and –– speaking in the Mongolian language –– called for closer ties between the two cities to boost tourism and regional development.

Representatives of the districts, counties and banners that are under Baotou’s administration also introduced their various tourist attractions.

The event witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between the travel agencies of the two regions to boost tourism.

Guests are given khata, a traditional ceremonial scarf, May 23. Khata scarves, which symbolize purity and compassion, are presented at many ceremonial occasions, including births, weddings and the arrival or departure of guests. [Photo/dzwww.com]
