Located in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Baotou Chang’an Permanent Magnet Motor Co is a national level tech-based enterprise that specializes in the research and development of rare earth magnetoelectric powered machines.

It owns the Key Laboratory of Advanced Permanent Magnet Motors and Control Technology Enterprises of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The company's technology center is an autonomous region-level enterprise technology center.

Rare earth magnets are strong permanent magnets made from the alloys of rare earth elements. They are the strongest type of permanent magnets made, producing significantly stronger magnetic fields than other types of industrial magnets.

The company covers a total area of 20,000 square meters in the zone, with a 5,200 sq m scientific research building and a 12,000 sq m production plant.

It has high-precision lathes and other production equipment, as well as electronic dynamic balancing machines and other advanced testing equipment.

The group has annual production capacity of 300,000 kilowatts of various rare earth permanent magnet motors.

The company has gained GB/T19001-2008 quality management system certification, GJB9001B-2009 weapon equipment quality management system certification and second-level confidentiality qualification certification, having also obtained a weapons equipment research and production license.

A domestically produced centrifugal field, high torque and high impact rare earth permanent magnet synchronous motor -- with independent intellectual property rights -- was successfully developed by the company in 2019.

It has laid the foundation for China to realize the localized production of core components in high-impact and high-precision applications.

In addition, the company is set to establish its first robot research and development center, associated with the Institute of Robotics at the Harbin Institute of Technology.

The two parties will cooperate on developing the Baotou Innovation Center at the robotics institute, which will be based in the Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

The center will mainly conduct research and focus on the development and transformation of technologies in such areas as mining robots, intelligent industrial robots and permanent magnet motor controls. It will also be engaged in developing advanced intelligent robots and high-end permanent motor magnet products.
