Baotou city, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been making great efforts in accelerating the development and growth of new types of manufacturing industries -- including the new-type coal chemicals industry.

In 2019, Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co’s coal to olefin project continued to operate steadily for 7,771 hours, with an average production load of 105.6 percent and a total production of 615,700 tons of olefin products.

The main products of the project include polyethylene, with a production capacity of about 300,000 tons per year and polypropylene, with a production capacity of about 300,000 tons per year.

There are other small amounts of by-products -- including industrial sulfur, coal-based mixed pentene, industrial propane, mixed carbon four and industrial methanol.

The project takes coal gasification-methanol-methanol to olefins as the main line. The main project consists of 11 sets of production facilities such as coal gasification, purification, sulfur recovery, methanol, methanol to olefins, polyethylene, and polypropylene.

The construction period is four years.
