Founded in December 2007, Baotou Weifeng Rare Earth Electromagnetic Materials Co is a tech-based company located in the Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, in Baotou City, located in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Its main business includes high-performance electrical steel research and development, high-performance electrical steel production and grain-oriented silicon steel production. 

Grain-oriented electrical steels are iron-silicon alloys that were developed to provide the low core loss and high permeability required for efficient and economical electrical transformers. They are the most energy efficient electrical steels used in transformers, where energy conservation is critical.

The company is mainly engaged in the production and sales of grain-oriented silicon steel and its products are widely used in North China, East China, Central China, South China, Southwest China, Northwest China, Northeast China and other regions.

The company has now mastered the production technology of high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel (HiB) and built an independently developed high magnetic induction grain-oriented silicon steel test production line.

In 2019, Baotou Weifeng Rare Earth Electromagnetic Materials Co successfully developed 0.05mm and 0.08mm grain-oriented silicon steel ultra-thin strips. It laid the foundation for the domestic application of high-frequency and thin-band silicon steel in the defense sector and in the high-speed rail, medical treatment and the power sectors in China.
