Baotou to promote new agriculture and animal husbandry pattern
In order to deepen the supply-side structural reforms in agriculture and animal husbandry, Baotou government will launch a new industry pattern of "five districts" and "one base", according to the Baotou agriculture and husbandry bureau.
The "one base" refers to Baotou, a city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, which has been designated to be one of the national farm and sideline product processing bases, in which more agricultural and husbandry products processing enterprises will be introduced.
The "five districts" refer to Tuyou Banner, Damao Banner, Guyang county, Jiuyuan district, and Donghe district, where five modern agricultural and animal husbandry parks will be built. In addition, three food processing parks will be built in Tumd Right Banner, Jiuyuan district, and Qingshan district.
The modern agricultural and animal husbandry parks will focus on corn, soybeans, potatoes, vegetables, fruit, and animal products, with each emphasizing different aspects of production.
For example, standardized production, protected agriculture, and brand-based marketing will be emphasized in vegetable and fruit growing. While reduced use of pesticide and chemical fertilizers will be encouraged in growing corn and soybeans.
In addition, the Baotou government also intends to expand the scale of farming and aquaculture, with a projected increase of 33,300 hectares of arable land and 4 million livestock animals during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). In addition to meeting domestic needs, the government will focus increasingly on exports.
