Baotou plots path for development of modern energy industry
Focusing on adjusting its energy infrastructure and increasing its new energy supplies, Baotou city – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – is reportedly planning a series of strategic moves.
It is plotting a path to extend its industrial supply chain for new energy and for energy equipment and accelerate its industrial transformation and upgrading – and it is said to be fully committed to building an important modern energy industrial base in the country.
In the wind power sector, Baotou plans to bring in leading enterprises in wind power development and equipment manufacturing to form a complete industrial chain for permanent magnet direct drive units, wind turbine blades, towers and other wind turbines.
In terms of its solar power sector, the city will consolidate and optimize the production capacity of monocrystalline silicon, as well as focus on the development of monocrystalline silicon, silicon chloride, silicon carbide, organic silicon and the silicone rubber industries.
To further boost development in hydrogen energy industry, the city plans to focus on hydrogen metallurgy, the hydrogen chemicals industry, hydrogen transportation and other fields. It will move to accelerate the construction of renewable energy hydrogen production and will focus on hydrogen storage, hydrogen refueling stations, as well as establish an international hydrogen energy metallurgical chemicals industry demonstration zone.
In terms of its nuclear power sector, the construction of the Baotou Nuclear Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Industrial Park will be promoted.
The city will accelerate the development of nuclear power fuel manufacturing in areas such as heavy water reactors, pressurized water reactors and high-temperature reactors. It will move to advance the development of integrated regional natural uranium supply chains and other projects, as well as promote the establishment of nuclear technology applications industry clusters.
