Baotou adds museum dedicated to acclaimed sisters

A special museum with exhibits that showcase an acclaimed and inspiring tale of local bravery – located in Bayan Obo mining district in Baotou city, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – was recently selected as a National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China.

Baotou is the hometown of two widely celebrated and brave siblings, the girls Longmei and Yurong, who at the respective ages of 11 and 9 risked their lives in 1964 to protect their family herd in freezing conditions.
The event, which took place in the Bayan Obo mining district administered by Baotou, continues to touch the hearts of many across the country because of the bravery and perseverance of the girls.
The museum is a two-story building, on a site covering 23,000 square meters, with a floor space of 5,700 sq m.
The museum records in detail the deeds of the little heroic sisters and displays precious personal items in a permanent collection, authorized by Longmei and Yurong.
