Relying on the Xindushi zone in Jiuyuan – with a planned area of 37.5 square kilometers – the headquarters economy, commerce and logistics industries have all been steadily developing there. In addition, the cultural tourism, sports, convention and exhibition industries have gradually emerged – and financial insurance and high-end real estate businesses have based themselves there.
Five major industrial clusters have been formed in the district: the chemicals, electric power, steel deep processing, equipment manufacturing and new materials industries.
Since 2023, Jiuyuan district has been committed to building its first recycling and sorting center.
Covering an area of approximately 5,400 square meters, the center is equipped with 60 sets of intelligent waste sorting facilities. It has been meticulously planned and constructed in strict accordance with industry standards. It will provide comprehensive recycling services in all categories.
The center also features a hazardous waste temporary storage area. Once the area is full, the waste is transported by specialized vehicles to qualified hazardous waste treatment enterprises for proper disposal.
When the container volume reaches 80 percent, an alert is issued, ensuring timely and efficient removal as these containers are filled. The district's waste collection and transportation vehicles are all equipped with GPS devices, ensuring real-time monitoring of clearing times and routes, allowing for rational scheduling.
Currently, over 90 percent of the district's recyclables are being utilized for marketable resource recycling. The remaining hazardous waste and non-recyclable portions of household waste are sent to qualified hazardous waste disposal enterprises, household waste incineration stations, or landfill disposal enterprises for proper treatment.
Simultaneously, the center is in the process of developing a mobile app for door-to-door recycling services. Residents can place orders and schedule free pick-ups through the app.
