2014-03-12 By Liu Yufen (chinadaily.com.cn)

Tongliao city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region will further push forward the integration of culture and tourism by promoting the city’s cultural tourism industry featuring regional and ethnic characteristics.

Tongliao plans to build a 500-kilometer Horqin cultural tourism landscape avenue by integrating Horqin cultural tourism resources along National Highway 304. The road, according to the city’s plan, will include city landscapes, nature scenes, historical culture, and folk customs along five themes and tours: grassland, horse culture, red culture, special culture and religious culture.

In 2014, Tongliao will speed up the construction of projects involving Horqin foods, specialty shopping, Horqin historical culture protection and development, and major tourism spots. Meanwhile, the city’s infrastructure, three-dimensional transport system and comprehensive tourism service system will be optimized to prepare for Tongliao as a national tour destination and platform for cultural exchange.
