In March, the CPI (Consumer Price Index) of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region rose by 2.3 percent, 0.4 percentage points over last month. However, the figure was 0.1 percentage points below the national average, ranking 18th among the 31 provinces and provincial-level cities in China.

The statistics showed that prices among seven categories of consumer goods have increased, while only one category saw a drop. The price of food rose by 4.1 percent year-on-year, in line with the national average and accounting for 1.2 percentage points in the CPI index increase.

The prices of tobacco and wine, household equipment and maintenance services, health care and personal goods were relatively stable, with the growth rate less than 1 percentage point.

The consumer price of clothing, entertainment and educational products and services, and housing rose slightly by 2.7 percent, 1.9 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively. The price of transportation and communication fell by 0.3 percent.
