2014-05-30 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Recently, three cities in Fujian province, namely Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou together with Jinmen, a city in Taiwan, jointly held a tourism promotion forum in Hohhot, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, lie in the south-eastern coastal area of Fujian province, commonly known as the “Golden Triangle” of southern Fujian. Jinmen Island as well as the three Fujian cities use the same language: the minnan (southern Fujian) dialect and resonate to the same culture: the minnan culture; therefore, they have much in common in their respective tourism resources.

With their advantageous geographical location and convenient sea, land and air transportation networks, it has been a priority choice to promote tourism of the four cities as a package.

As the capital of Inner Mongolia, Hohhot, located in Northern China, has unique desert scenery and is totally different from southern Fujian in tourism resources. Therefore, the two regions are mutually complementary. With the expanding and intensifying transportation network between Hohhot and south-east coastal cities, more convenience has been created for tourism and communication.

At the tourism promotion forum, the four cities jointly put out several characteristic tourism routes. They are looking forward to strengthening cooperation and communication with Hohhot, Inner Mongolia and even with Northern China.
