2014 marks the 65th anniversary of China-Mongolia diplomatic relations and the Year of China-Mongolia Friendly Exchanges.

On July 6, a delegation from Inner Mongolia autonomous region led by Wang Jun, secretary of the region's CPC Committee and head of the regional People's Congress Standing Committee, started an official visit to Mongolia.

Wang met with Zandaakhuu Enkhbold and Norovyn Altankhuyag, chairman and prime minister respectively of the State Great Hural of Mongolia and talked about Inner Mongolia's social and economic development during the meeting.

Exchanges between the Regional People's Congress and the State Great Hural of Mongolia were reviewed, while opinions on cooperation in the fields of culture, economy and infrastructure building were discussed between the two sides until a consensus was reached.

Under the guidance of an agreement between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Mongolian counterpart Ysakhiagiin Elbegdorj at the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in this May, Inner Mongolia will work with Mongolia to implement the Outline for Medium- and Long- Term Development of a China-Mongolia Strategic Partnership, which was signed in October 2013. Both parties vowed to speed up the building of a cross-border economic cooperation zone and exchange minerals, electricity, finance and tourism.

Mongolia said it hopes to learn from Inner Mongolia’s experience in coal processing, desertification control and environmental protection and also proposed mutually beneficial development projects involving economic and cultural exchange.

Also on Wang's schedule was a symposium where representatives of Mongolia-based Inner Mongolian enterprises presented their opinions on Inner Mongolia's efforts to promote China-Mongolia cooperation.

Wang presided over a special conference after his trip, which was finished on July 8. He gave a comprehensive summary of his visit and, together with the corresponding officials of the region, discussed the furthering of China-Mongolia exchange and cooperation.
