A new channel that facilitates government affairs publicity and communication between the government and the public known as “Hohhot Release (呼和浩特发布)” was officially launched on Oct 10.

“Hohhot Release” is a government weibo group that gathers official administration affairs accounts of Hohhot’s banners, counties, districts, governmental organs and new media. The weibo group was approved by the news office of the Hohhot people’s government and was started on Sina Weibo and Tencent Weibo synchronously. As a government affairs weibo platform, 84 governmental organs have settled down on it to date. It is expected to be a gathering place for Hohhot’s official opinions.

The value of the government affairs weibo lies in its focus on livelihood and public opinion, according to Wang Xuefeng, head of the publicity department of the Hohhot municipal Party committee. The official launch of Hohhot Release is a significant step for the municipality’s utilization of weibo.

“Weibo is micro, however its influence will be macro,” Wang said.
