Inner Mongolia promotes Mongolian throat singing inheritance

North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region put on a Khoomei or Mongolian throat singing course recently to pass on a traditional “throat singing” form in the Xilingol League, which attracted more than 130 students from various leagues and cities and the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

This special form of singing is important in Mongolian music was added to UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2009, which caught the attention of Inner Mongolia who arranged international symposium and contests to extend this art form, such as this course, as an attempt to deal with the difficulties in preserving it and traditional songs.
