Traditional Mongolian medicine highlights Sino-Mongolian cooperation

A university in North China's Inner Mongolia has agreed to cooperate with a Mongolian university on traditional Mongolian medicine.

According to the agreement, the two universities, Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities and Mongolian University of Science and Technology, will exchange students in the fields of traditional Mongolian medicine research, education and clinical care over the next five years.

A Mongolian medicine lab will also be established by the two universities.

Traditional Mongolian medicine has a history of over 1,000 years. It was listed as an national intangible cultural heritage and its main treatment practices included herbs, acupuncture and moxibustion.

In recent years, traditional Mongolian medicine emerged a highlight of Sino-Mongolian cooperation. Mongolian medicines in both countries are complementary to one another.

Inner Mongolia International Mongolian Medicine Hospital, China's largest hospital for traditional Mongolian medicine, also has a cooperation agreement with Mongolia.

The hospital is highly acclaimed, and more than 10,000 patients in Mongolia have received free treatments by the hospital since its establishment in 2012.

China and Mongolia will continue cooperation to improve the latter's medical rescue services, as well as exchange research on traditional Mongolian medicine.
