A media delegation from China's five autonomous regions - Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Guangxi, Ningxia and Tibet -- went to Mainling county of Nyingchi City in Tibet, Oct 31, 2015, as part of a reciprocal tour event, to document the lives of the people, and especially their ethnic culture.

They talked to a craftsman in the county and learned about Bixiu, a traditional Tibetan handicraft and intangible cultural heritage used to make whistling arrows. They were able to watch the art's whole production process.

Reporters were told that the whistling arrows were first used for hunting and later evolved into a sport competition, adding pleasure to some local festivals and events.

The tour event was initiated last August by Inner Mongolia's Beifang Xinbao news outlet, the region's cyberspace administration, and the Mengniu Diary Co, with support from news counterparts in the other four regions, to report on the lives and cultures of local people in the autonomous regions of China.
