Inner Mongolia autonomous region held a press conference on how to protect its original products, on Jan 6, 2016, people.com.cn reported.

The deputy director of the regional Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Administration, Liu Xin, described at the conference how the Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Administration had issued a ruling on original product protection in September 2012, and that, by the end of 2015, China had more than 130 products getting this protection.

This product protection is new to Inner Mongolia, with only one product qualifying and three other products - chili peppers and two products from Kailu county - still under review, meaning that Inner Mongolia has a lot of room to grow.

This year, Inner Mongolia says it will come up with policies to encourage enterprises and work units to work toward these products and related protection, and to develop Inner Mongolian green brands more rapidly. These preferential policies include: to establish a work mechanism that the government leads, departments interact and co-build to actively apply appropriate economic rewards for enterprises and work units that are under evaluation.

For any companies involved in foreign trade seeking protection of products, or companies in foreign trade already getting the protection, inspection and quarantine departments will have preferential policies such as priority through a green channel, paperless customs clearances, and classification supervision.

To improve the application process on product protection, the offices are to have more preferential policies for these products and related enterprises, in inspections and quarantine, customs clearances, issuing certificates, and credit evaluation.

The product protection work in Inner Mongolia is expected to improve the greening, environmental protection, low carbon output, and consumer confidence to get more green, healthy products go people’s homes and accelerate work on the ecology and green development.
