The culture department of Inner Mongolia autonomous region has announced that it will be continuing work on its infrastructure this year, following its major project in 2015, which saw 20 infrastructure extension projects, costing 648 million yuan ($98 million), with many cultural center tasks in Gazha county, according to a Northnews.cn report of Jan 7.

The region had a public cultural selection process this past year to recognize the top libraries, township culture centers, folk troupes, and even cultural households. For example, one librarian, Li Xiaoqiu of the Inner Mongolia Library, was recognized as one of "China's Top 10 Exemplary Librarians", and a culture center in the city of Baotou's rare-earth high-tech zone, got the "National Outstanding Township Culture Center" title, while the city of Hohhot was recognized as a model city for its public cultural demonstration area.

The region also had 35 million yuan put into a "Mongolian yurt digital culture" project, and 219 digital gas stations, and 700 mobile digital gas stations, benefiting more than 2 million people. It now has 166 cultural activities, such as the China Inner Mongolia festival, Hohhot Wang Zhaojun culture festival, and Baotou cultural activities.
