The region has also completed work on a water conservation area in the Greater Khingan Mountains and Xilin Gol Grassland Reserve in Hulun Buir and that cities and banner counties have begun using the weather modification for various purposes, with emphasis on supervising the whole process with meteorological department, security, work safety, civil aviation, and the military working closely together. In forest steppe fire fighting, they were able to use artificial rain in due time and to reduce rain during important activities such as the 10th China National Minority Games.
