On Aug 30, a grain fair aimed at promoting trade and collaboration concluded at the Hohhot International Exhibition Center in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The fair attracted over 1,200 officials, experts and enterprises in the agricultural industry from 24 provinces and regions. Twelve projects were penned on the day and more than 220 tons of grain was sold.

Organizers hope the fair can connect farmers with grain and food processing firms, and promote cross-province cooperation to guarantee national grain security.

As one major grain producing region in China, Inner Mongolia provides more than 10 billion kilograms of crop produce every year and is one of the six top exporters of grain among provinces and regions in China, according to the region’s vice president, Wang Yuming.

Speaking at the fair, deputy director of the regional grain bureau Wang Siqin said that the central government has announced new policies relating to the purchasing, storage and trade of maize in the northeast provinces of Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Jilin and the Inner Mongolian autonomous region.

Companies and government bodies in Inner Mongolia signed contracts with many administrative agencies and grain dealers from Beijing, Guangdong province and Chongqing. Refined crops produced by local cities such as Tongliao, Bayannur and Hulunbuir were presented at the expo.

Some e-commerce companies like Liangda, Youliang attended the fair and expressed new tools of grain sales.
