From January to July, Inner Mongolia’s supply and marketing cooperatives maintained stable growth in corps and livestock purchase and sales, hitting 30.68 billion yuan ($4.6 billion), a 3.1 percent year-on-year increase.

In the first seven months of 2016, regional cooperatives in rural areas earned 548 million yuan for local communities, a 6.8 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

The sales and profits of rural cooperatives (at the county level and below) respectively accounted for 84.2 percent and 88.7 percent of all regional cooperatives.

Inner Mongolia has proposed to establish 100 new cooperatives and 2,000 comprehensive rural service centers by the end of 2016. Further expansion will accomplish 600 rural cooperatives and 6,000 rural service stations in all.

Services required in rural areas include machinery repairs, crop fertilization, soil testing, and legal services; to provide resources and facilities for farmers and herdsmen.

The local government also intends to set up 60 wholesale markets for trading agricultural and livestock products.
