Kweichow Moutai, one of China's top liquor makers, donated 1.5 million yuan ($225,000) to the Inner Mongolia charity project “Aiding College Students Program”, which was organized in Hohhot, on Sept 18.

The fund was raised to sponsor 300 college freshmen with financial difficulties from Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Initiated in 2005, the Aiding College Students Program has raised 51.2 million yuan, funding over 14 thousand needy students to enter colleges over a period of 12 years.

The program has been jointly sponsored by the Inner Mongolia Communist Youth League, Project Hope Donation Center of Inner Mongolia and Inner Mongolia Youth Development Foundation.

During the donation ceremony, the Inner Mongolia Communist Youth League presented a commemorative plaque to Kweichow Moutai for its generous donation to the project.

College students receiving funds performed a play related to love, compassion and dream to express their gratitude toward individuals and companies who have donated over the years.

Guan Xinpeng from Chifeng city, Inner Mongolia, expressed his thanks to the Kweichow Moutai Group for helping make his college dreams a reality. Guan also said the donations helping students to attend college had encouraged him to be charitable to others in the future.

Guan was admitted into Peking University with a score of 668 this summer, but his family could not afford the tuition fees due to the ill health of one of his parents. Now, Project Hope and Moutai Group have helped him realize his dreams.

Kweichow Moutai, a company known for its intoxicating brew, has been recognized as the top three liquor brands, similar to Scotch whisky and Cognac brandy.
