Li Jiheng visits regional troops, clarifies role of military

On Nov 12, Li Jiheng, secretary of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee, paid a visit to military authorities and troops, during which he delivered instructions on the troop construction and army missions.

During the visit, Li talked with the army leadership about the current situation and deployment of the troops, and also attended a joint live-fire exercise.

Li emphasized that troops should execute their responsibilities and missions on the regional defense and border security, thus to guarantee the local peace and stability. He urged that the military, along with the local Party committee and government, should jointly devote themselves to the safety of North China.

Leng Jiesong, commander of the Inner Mongolia Military Region (also known as the Inner Mongolia Military Area Command, one of seven military regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army), gave a report on the current status of the troops. Yang Junxing, commissar of the Inner Mongolia Military Region, presided over the report meeting.

Bu Xiaolin, president of the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; Li Jia, vice secretary of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee; Zhang Xiu, deputy commander of the Inner Mongolia Military Region; also attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Li and other officials visited the museum of the Inner Mongolia Military Region, during which Li expressed salutation and tribute toward all the regional officers, soldiers and militias.

During his tour, Li pointed out the crucial task of building political ideology among the troops, and he stressed all the troops should follow the principles and disciplines of the Chinese PLA and guarantee their loyalty, purity and reliance toward the CPC Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and President Xi.

Also, troops are ought to position the national sovereignty and security as their primary task; to implement the belief of “strong to fight; fight for victory”; and to improve the level of combat readiness and the ability to handle multiple tasks, according to Li.

The harmonious relationship between the military and civilians also plays an essential role in the construction of regional troops, and the government alongside the military should make efforts to create a social environment that enables soldiers and civilians work as one in the safeguarding of the regional defense and security, Li said.
