Bu Xiaolin, chairwoman of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, met with Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying in Hong Kong on Nov 16 to exchange views on cooperation between the two regions.

Bu expressed her gratitude for the support that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) has provided to Inner Mongolia. She briefly introduced the region’s economic and social development and the 2016 marketing event for the cooperative projects between Inner Mongolia and Hong Kong.

Bu mentioned that Inner Mongolia and Hong Kong have maintained close ties in recent years and Hong Kong is an important trading partner and source of investment for Inner Mongolia.

Bu expressed her view that although these two regions are far away from each other, they are both important hubs for the Belt and Road Initiative and that this will bring new opportunities for both regions.

Leung Chun-ying welcomed the delegation from Inner Mongolia and expressed his enthusiasm for conducting trade and economic exchanges with Hong Kong. Leung claimed that the SAR has always been actively dedicated to exchanges and communication with the Chinese mainland, and that Hong Kong now has a very close relationship with Inner Mongolia.

Inner Mongolia has unique charm and development advantages, Leung claimed, and he pledged that Hong Kong will continue to support economic and trade cooperation between the two regions.
