Costume art festival to be held in Inner Mongolia

The 14th Art Festival of Mongolian Costumes will open in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Nov 27, with 149 teams due to participate.

A total of 1,249 competitors of 142 teams from places including Inner Mongolia, Jilin, and Yunnan will participate in the competition, and seven teams will give performance at the festival, according to the region’s information office. 

Having been successfully held for 13 seasons, the festival aims to promote Mongolian costume culture and develop tourism in the region.

Zhang Yujun, deputy director of the tourism development committee, said that this year’s event will include not only the competition, but also the exhibition and selling of Mongolian costumes. 

In addition, a seminar on integrated development of Mongolian costume culture and tourism will also be held during the event, with focus on Mongolian costumes’ current development, development trends, protection, marketing, and tourism promotion.
