China’s Yili reaches top 500 most valuable brand list

Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co Ltd, China's largest dairy producer, has made it onto a 2018 list of the 500 most valuable brands in the world, according to Brand Finance, a British brands valuation consultancy.

The only Chinese dairy brand on the list, Yili climbed 106 places to 283th, ahead of world renowned food brands including Nescafé and Kraft Heinz in the rankings.

Yili reported a 33.49 percent year-on-year net profit increase in the third quarter of 2017.

The share price of the group rose sharply in the secondary market, with a brand value of 200 billion yuan ($31.59 billion) last year.

In addition, its return on common stockholder's equity (ROE) in 2016 was 26.58 percent, ranking first in the global dairy industry.

Yi has continued to enhance its market presence by focusing on quality control and innovation.

Bent on improving the quality of its products, Yili had invested 635 million yuan in food testing by the end of 2017 to ensure a safe food supply.

It also leads the way in producing new high value-added products such as yogurt with continuous innovation.
