A new train service commenced operations in Inner Mongolia autonomous region to carry tourists during the peak summer holiday season on June 15, according to the China Railway Hohhot Group.

The service will connect Hohhot with cities including Xiliinhot, Ereenhot, Hexigten Banner and Ordos.

Four travel routes will provide passengers with views of Xiliinhot's grasslands and the deserts of Ordos.

According to a director of the China Railway Hohhot Group, the specialized service is aimed at furthering the integration of railways and tourism.

The director added that the train will provide both soft and hard sleeper cars, as well as a dining car.
