Baotou city actively adapts to the national macroeconomic needs and actively grasps new opportunities for development. The annual growth rate of industrial added value in the city has been increasing for the past five years.

The city is developing into a modern industrial base.

Scientific and technological innovation has become a new growth engine for the transformation and development of the industrial economy in the city. In the first half of 2018, it increased by 12.4 percent year-on-year, 3.6 percentage points higher than other industries in the city.

Baotou has signed cooperation agreements with many well-known universities and research institutes in China, and established a long-term and stable cooperation relationship between industry, university and research institutes.

A total of 180 enterprise R&D research institutions in the city have won municipal, regional or national level recognition.
