According to local authorities, an alliance to improve technological innovation in the potato industry of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region was formed in Yakeshi, Hulunbuir, on Aug 26.

The alliance is made up of 25 enterprises and institutions involved in potato production, education, and research from inside and outside Inner Mongolia. The alliance will take advantage of the strengths and resources of its 18 leading enterprises, three universities, and four research institutions.

Yakeshi is an important regional potato production center due to its long cold winters, stark temperature difference between morning and evening, good soil quality, and lack of pests and plant diseases.

The alliance will take full advantage of Yakeshi's abundance of natural resources and build a new system for the commercial application of scientific and technological achievements focusing on the potato industry in Inner Mongolia and the rest of the country.

The alliance will focus on research and technical breakthroughs in the cultivation of different varieties of potato, disease prevention and control, improving the technological innovation capabilities of the region's potato industry, optimizing the potato industrial structure, promoting the coordinated development of scientific research, production, and markets, and strengthening the competitiveness of the region's potato industry.

Lastly, the alliance will make full use of the local big data platform to help farmers and enterprises analyze data and adjust their production structures in a timely manner. Alliance members will help local potato enterprises use e-commerce channels to sell products.
