Special flight debuts for 14th National Winter Games

A new flight put on especially to serve the upcoming 14th National Winter Games in China successfully landed at Baita International Airport in Hohhot in Inner Mongolia autonomous region at 09:52 on Dec 31, according to local officials.

The 14th National Winter Games is scheduled to be held in Hulunbuir in Inner Mongolia in February, 2020. 

This will be China's last national winter games before the Beijing Olympic Winter Games in 2022.

Officials said it will also be the region’s first time to host a sports event of this caliber, giving it an opportunity to showcase its positive aspects, social development and civilization to the outside world.

The Shisidong passenger plane running the route is being operated by Genghis Khan Airlines, the first local airlines controlled by the government of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

It is being used to serve the Hinggan League, Hohhot and Xilin Gol League divisions of the National Winter Games. It connects Hohhot to Ulanhot and Xilinhot. 

The flight departs Hohhot Baita International Airport at 10:10 and arrives in Ulanhot in Hinggan League at 11:45. After an hour layover at Ulanhot airport, it departs at 12:45 and lands in Hohhot at 14:35 . 

The Hohhot-Xilinhot flight departs Hohhot airport at 15:25 and arrives at Xilinhot airport at 16:35. The return flight takes off at 17:25 and arrives at 18:35.

Officials said the Shixidong plane has been especially decorated with National Winter Games design elements, both outside and inside. 

The exterior of the aircraft has been decorated with the emblem of the 14th National Winter Games and the words "Meeting the 14th National Winter Games and Charming Inner Mongolia".

The seat headrests in the cabin are printed with the mascots of the winter games -- Mongolian doll images Anda and Sainu -- and the airborne magazines introduce the competition information and preparations of the games.
