National alpine skiing competition concludes in Chifeng

The alpine skiing competition of the 14th China National Winter Games successfully concluded in the Meilingu Ski Resort in Chifeng, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Dec 30, according to the organizers.

The competition was divided into five groups, with players testing their skills on the giant slalom and the  slalom events.

After three days of fierce competition, skiers Ni Yueming, Zhu Tianhui and Kong Fanying from Heilongjiang team monopolized the podium in the women's giant slalom, with Ni seizing top place, followed by Zhu Tianhui.

The men's event saw Akcholi Murat from the Jilin team triumph, followed by Cong Liang and Gao Qun from the Heilongjiang team and the People's Liberation Army team, respectively.

In the men’s skiing slalom, the victors were Zhang Yangming, a veteran from Jilin province, who clocked an overall 1:36.78; Wang Yu from Heilongjiang province was 1.25 seconds behind to take second; and Zhang's teammate, the giant slalom winner, was third, some 2.59 seconds adrift of the winner.

The strong Heilongjiang women's team once again won the top three in the women's slalom event. The first prize went to Zhu Tianhui, while the second and third prizes went to Kong Fanying and Ni Yueming.

At the finals of the group competitions held on Dec 30, a joint team comprising skiers from Shandong and Heilongjiang provinces won first place, followed by the Heilongjiang team and the People's Liberation Army team.

After the alpine skiing competition, the Meilingu Ski Resort will continue to serve as host site of the snowboard skiing competitions at the 14th China National Winter Games, which are scheduled to be held on Feb 23 to 24.
