The Ordos municipal economic work conference was held at Kangbashi district in Ordos, a city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Jan 6, according to local media reports.

The conference is one of the most important economic indicators in the city, summarizing the economic work carried out in 2019 and setting the tone for 2020's economic work.

Niu Junyan, Party chief of Ordos and mayor Siqinbilige attended the conference. They reviewed the city's economic progress in 2019, analyzed the current economic climate and created a work plan for 2020.

"The year 2020 will be the year to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and it is also the final year for the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020)," Niu said.

"It is the year to achieve the first Centenary Goal -- to build a moderately prosperous society of China".

Niu said Ordos will unswervingly implement its new development concept, give up traditional thinking patterns and extensive development modes.

He said it will establish a clear guidance for ecological priorities and green development, promote the integration of new development concepts in work practices, transform that into actual results and lead stable and far-reaching development of its high-quality economy.

The Party chief continued that Ordos will resolutely fight for victory in the three tough battles -- against major risk, poverty and pollution. It would strive to make up any shortcomings in building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way.

Plans are for Ordos to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, build itself as a national modern energy demonstration city. It will promote the gathering of strategic emerging industries, promote the improvement of quality and efficiency of modern service industry -- and lay a solid foundation for the transformation of old into the  new energy economy, so as to promote the high-quality development of the economy.

Ordos plans to deepen its reforms and expand it opening up, further stimulating its development vitality and expanding development space.

At the same time, Ordos will steadily promote coordinated development between urban and rural areas. It will optimize the economic layout of urban and rural areas, vigorously implement the strategy of rural revitalization, promote differentiated and coordinated development among different regions and build a modern infrastructure network system.

In addition, the city will promote the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. It will firmly insist in green and sustainable high-quality development, as well as continue to build up the Ordos defense line -- the important ecological security barrier in northern China.

Furthermore, Ordos will effectively guarantee and improve people's livelihoods, and continue to enhance the supply capacity of multi-level and diversified people's livelihood services. It will continue to consolidate and improve social harmony and stability, so that its citizens will have more of a sense of happiness and security.

Finally, Ordos will continue to give full play to the institutional advantages of the Party in guiding its economic work and improve the ability and level of its economic governance.
