Inner Mongolia hits new record in opening-up

Inner Mongolia achieved great progress in expanding its opening-up, according to a government report delivered by Bu Xiaolin, chairwoman of Inner Mongolia autonomous region at the third session of the 13th People’s Congress of Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Jan 12.
Bu pointed out that the total import and export volume of Inner Mongolia in 2019 increased by 5 percent compared with that in 2018. The number of China-Europe freight trains running between Inner Mongolia and the European countries increased by 20.4 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Inner Mongolia carried out measures to develop investment and trade, stage exhibitions on culture relics from the Liao Dynasty (916-1125), as well as expand medical services and education and cultural communications with neighboring Mongolia.
The government report highlighted an agreement signed between the two sides, to establish the Erenhot-Zammenud Economic Cooperation Zone. It also highlighted the success of the third China-Mongolia Expo.
In addition, Inner Mongolia established regular government exchanges and a cooperation mechanism with neighboring areas such as Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk in Russia.
It also pushed forward with the implementation of the United Arab Emirates-Chifeng grass-animal integration project, as well as the Israeli-Bayannur Modern Agricultural Industrial Park project. It strengthened cooperation with Japan, Belarus and other countries as well.
Additionally, Ulanqab-Erenhot Inland Port was included on a list of national logistics hub construction projects, the construction of the Ulanqab bonded logistics center was approved and the Ordos comprehensive bonded zone and the Bayannur Bonded Logistics Center started operations.
