Inner Mongolia's core measures on inbound traveler screening

2020-03-24

Inner Mongolia has been taking a series of measures to prevent novel coronavirus cases from being imported from other virus-hit countries and regions.

1. Health declaration

Inbound travelers are required to declare their information to local residential communities, or their company, immediately on arrival in Inner Mongolia. The health declarations will include inbound traveler’s identification information, phone numbers, visited countries, date of return, transportation methods, itinerary within 14 days, health status and the purpose of entry.

2. 14-day quarantine

Inbound travelers are required to undergo a centralized quarantine and medical observation for 14 days. All the fees incurred during the 14-day quarantine and medical observation period will be borne by inbound travelers at their own expense.

3. Nucleic acid test

Nucleic acid tests are required to be taken for inbound travelers showing symptoms such as fever and a cough, suspected cases and their close contacts.

4. Strict airport controls

Special personnel are conducting checks and transfers of suspected cases

5. Paid solicitation of inbound traveler information

There are also designated measures taken by cities and banners in Inner Mongolia to report the information of inbound travelers.

Taking Hohhot as an example, Hohhot is encouraging the public to report the information of inbound travelers. After verification, the reporter will be rewarded 1,000 yuan ($141). If the reported person is verified as a close contact of a confirmed case, the reporter will be rewarded 2,000 yuan; if the reported person is verified as a confirmed case, the reporter will be rewarded 5,000 yuan.
