New Kazuo-Chifeng HSR set to kick off operations in July

2020-06-30

The new Kazuo-Chifeng High-speed Railway (HSR) is scheduled to start operating on July 1, according to information released by China State Railway Group Co.

The 157.43-kilometer high-speed rail line is a branch of the Beijing-Shenyang High-speed Railway, company officials said.

It connects Kazuo station -- in  the Mongolian autonomous county of Harqin Left Wing, administered by the prefecture-level city of Chaoyang in Northeast China’s Liaoning province -- and Chifeng city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Chifeng officials said that the operation of the railway will put an end to the time when Chifeng was not connected to the national high-speed railway network.

They also said that the construction of the new high-speed railway had shortened the space-time distance between Chifeng to Beijing and Shenyang.

They added that the railway was the most convenient passenger transportation from Chifeng to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and southern of Liaoning province.

The Kazuo-Chifeng High-speed Railway began construction in 2016, and it has a design speed of 250 km per hour.

A total of five stations have been set up along the railway: Kazuo station, Jianping station, Ningcheng station, Pingzhuang station and Chifeng station.

Officials said that high-speed trains sent by Chifeng station can directly reach 13 cities in Northeast China.

These destinations include the four major cities of Shenyang, Dalian, Changchun and Harbin.

They can also reach destinations in nine prefecture-level cities: Chaoyang, Fuxin, Liaoyang, Anshan, Yingkou, Benxi, Dandong, Tieling and Siping.

A total of eight pairs of trains are initially scheduled to operate on the Kazuo-Chifeng High-speed Railway.

Responding to changes of passenger flow, the railway department will regularly adjust the number of operating trains on the railway.

The running time from Chifeng to Shenyang is 2 hours and 45 minutes, that from Chifeng to Dalian 4 hours and 45 minutes, and the runtime to Harbin is 5 hours and 33 minutes.
